Bunch of us were puttering about on IRC while the forums were down.
Anyway, to join just go to the following url and enter in a username:
http://www.mibbit.com/?server=irc.mibbit.net&channel=%23potn
or connect directly (if you know what you're doing):
irc.mibbit.net #POTN

Get in the #chan then :P
Forums went down... it was pandemonium as we searched for another haven to rest our weary photos.

the chat was quite entertaining for a bit when the forums were down... we need to have more people in this more often :)

Indeed... although it seems this forum's demographic is rather unfamiliar with IRC :(

I used to use ICQ a lot, but stopped when text messaging became popular.

That and IRC from work is blocked!
I did find on another forum that once we all started using a chat client, the posts dramatically reduced. and all discussion ideas info etc.. was lost in the chat client, and not in the forum as a reference/searchable...

This is the main reason why POTN doesn't have an official IRC/chatroom. There's also the consideration that they're completely unmoderated - so if someone in there starts swearing or posting objectionable material or being abusive, there's very little to prevent it.

IRC channels are actually quite moderated. There are many levels of moderation from only letting certain people talk, to outright banning people.
Next time you're in the channel I'll give you said moderator powers (which you should have anyway, considering you're a mod here :P )
