Nice to see some Nascar Pics! Wow what a crash. Off to see your entire set. Did you shoot with the xt and the 70-200?
I have one from his crash at the Daytona 500 this year but no where near as good as that

Yup shot with the XT and 70-200. Crash pictures in particular were cropped a decent bit as the crash was in turn 3 and I was in turn 1. I've been attending the Busch (Nationwide) races there for years and years, this was my first cup race. All in all a lot of fun, would definitely do it again, but don't think I'd make a habit of it like I do the Busch races. I just think at times the racing is better in the lower series, even though the skill is sightly lower, maybe thats part of what makes it more exciting. Plus it's cheaper and a lot less people! Though this race was nowhere near a sell out. I could see myself doing this once a year or everyother year and doing what I've been with the Busch races.

Unfortunately after looking through what I uploaded, bulk upload I did with the automatic photobucket resizing definitely left it's mark on the pictures, some definite quality loss there.
The pictures I posted in the thread were resized before uploading so they seemed to retain at least most of there quality.

Yeah they still looked good though :) We do 2 a year cup and then 1 Busch(nationwide) race. Lots of fun and great time to take pics as well. One time I want to get pit paces so I am on the other side of the fence LOL! Wish more would post Nascar pics, its the only car thing I go to. Some day I really want one of the 70-200 lenses

It is an awesome lens, very sharp. Great feel in the hand too.
In the turn I was in I could have stood around the grandstand entrance area and go much closer pictures, since it's elevated from that point about 20 feet above the track, so you're shooting over the fence with the front stretch almost level or just below level (because of the drop off due to banking). If you look at the shot of Kenseth coming toward me that was the situation there, but it wasn't the best shot because I was walking while taking just trying to stay out of the way of the masses.

Great shots. Saw this on Sportcentre and couldn't believe the guy walked away from it. Put his sponsors hat on and just strolled away! rolled over 6 times yes?

I would have had a *slightly* more complete set had I 1. Paid more attention during the first crash, I was more in awe of what I was seeing and putting the camera in front of my eye was my second reaction behind the jaw drop so I lost a flip or 3 in there. And 2. If I had a camera capable of doing more than 3 fps in burst mode, the camera hogged down after the 3rd shot or so and I missed a hit or two in there.
That being said I'm VERY happy with the way the logano shot of the initial major hit came out, and the last shot of the second series, which came out very clear I think, at least enough that you can see some rubber debris bouncing along with the car in front.

those are some pretty cool shots, i been a huge nascar fan since i was a kid, Joey is an amazing little driver especially being so young, running out there with all the big boys, When i saw him wreck i just held my breath that he was ok, he rolled 7 1/2 times
