Hi,

I am new to photography, and have a question about some pictures I made this afternoon. I took some pictures of my kids outside at the park in the bright sunshine. When I downloaded them onto the computer, I had to adjust the brightness to really see my kids good. I went back and looked on the LCD and the pictures were fine. Why is it when I download them onto Zoombrowser, or my editing software the pictures seem much darker? Thanks for your help. I would like to buy a CD burner and put my pictures on it, but I hate to have to edit every picture each time. By the way, I had the camera set on Auto everything.

A couple of ideas:

1 - Where was the sun in relation to the kids? If it was behind them, you need to increase exposure with the exposure compensation control. Its difficult to get a good bright picture when the source of light is behind the subject.

2 - The LCD on the S-230 is very bright by design. It is bright so that you can see it even on a sunny day. Mine is a little brighter on the camera than my computer monitor as well.

3 - Make sure that your computer monitor brightness and contrast controls are set so that photos appear bright and clear. Go to a web site where there are a few professional photographs - say a magazine's web site and use a large picture there to adjust your monitor's controls.
