looking for a cheap canon lens

i just got a canon 10d for my niece but it turns out the old 18-55 lens doesn't fit it... so now i need a lens... any lens that works, prefer under 50.00 and it does not have to be canon. just something to have as an everyday lens.

I did this exact conversion almost 2 years ago for my neighbour, who owns a 10d..

worked like a charm.. only took me about 2 hours and some waiting time.
