My 50mm f1.8 arrived today. Yay. This is the first pic I took. I think I will grow to love the narrow DOF. What do you think?

Crop a bit of the bottom, since its out of focus, making it distracting, but pretty good photo. Good colors, good expression, and a cute baby.

I'd have to agree with Grego, I'd go more along these lines, (hope you don't mind)...

Really nice photo. I do like the cropped version. Was the light natural?

Thanks for all the comments. My pic is actually a slight crop from the origional. I kinda liked the oof forground, which is why I kept it. But I can now see I kept a little too much. I'll keep that in mind for future photos with this lens.

Titus, light is from my 420ex bounced off the roof.

How do you create that frame, with the shade on the foto, do you have a special program or PS?
