#1 of 4. 5th Avenue Cold Duck
Hello again everyone. I went to my most recent favourite dam again this morning, Emmerentia Dam in Johannesburg South Africa (for those of you that know the whereabouts). It was a very cold winters morning here and there was a lot of mist on the dam which made for some interesting pictures. Hope you enjoy the viewing?
Again these pictures have been down-sized, resampled and are much better in their bigger cleaner versions at http://mrstickman.deviantart.com but this will give you an idea.
Thanks for taking a look.

Wow!
First off, beautiful morning light and composition. Second off, I'm jelous of your geographic location (always wanted to see Johannesburg). 3rd of all....Here in Ottawa, Canada our winters are very cold (-30cels in the peak)...so I wish my winters where this mild....
Congrats!

Excellent image (a shame the fog didn't completely obscure that VW, however)!

Yup. It was a pity. I still like the picture though but 20/20 and all that... ;D

I like the picture, don't see the VW, however what caused the two lines through the middle of the picture? I also see something in the upper left corner of the frame, looks like framed pictures.

I like it a lot, but the car on the other side of the dam is distracting. Thanks for sharing. BTW, why the title is "5th Avenue Cold Duck"? Just don't get it?!

davepgh1, you need to adjust the contrast and brightness settings on your monitor. What will then become clear is in the background (top left) is a house (what looks like picture frames), and to the right of that is the Red VW (that is quite distracting I agree Leorooster, although other people have said they like it?)
Leorooster, the title you probably wouldn't get - it's just a play on words. In South Africa, we have a champage called "5th Avenue Cold Duck" which is best when served really well chilled, which I guess is what these ducks were, and behind the dam, (you can actually see the wall by the road through the mist) is a road (admittedly it's not called 5th Avenue, but again just a play on words)
Having said all that I was cold, the ducks probably weren't given all their feathers and down etc.
So what's in a name you might say...?
