I'm heading down to see the airshow this Sunday and was wondering where I should set up to get the best shots. Especially when the Blue Angels are flying. Thanks.

Great, thanks for the tip. Do you have the phone number for the tower?

haha I was actually kidding.. no way they would let you in there unless you're an ATC or a pilot. Find somewhere raised like a hill or something. Many airports (at least around here) have hills and the like that are prime real estate to get above the masses and closer to the action.

All this depends on where you'll be allowed to go of course. Try and find out what areas spectators are allowed in :P

No hills around there, except way to the East...

If you have the money, buy tickets to either the grandstand or one of the public chalets. That will put you close to show center for the best spot for passing shots. If you choose to shoot from one of the blanket seating areas, get there early and stake out your spot. I like to go to the west end because that is closest to the hot ramp and you can get close shots of aircraft moving in and out.

Check out THIS (http://www.miramarairshow.com/IMAGES/airshow_pilots_eye.jpg) "pilot's eye view" of the show and you'll see what I mean.

I will be there Friday, getting there early to take some static display pictures and getting a grandstand seat for the demos.
