Great shot of an amazing creature. :) You're right it is a Seadragon - a Leafy Seadragon to be precise. They are from the same family as the seahorse but cannot curl up their tails and have these leafy appendages.

Awesome shot. I love those. We have sea dragons at the Aquarium here in NYC, down in Coney Island.

The colors and detail on that shot are fantastic. I've only shot a few aquariums, but the lighting and background was very poor. Unfortunately, I also did not have the nifty fifty with me. Mental note to bring it to the next aquarium.:D

Thank you very much. And yes, the lighting is very dim and fish constantly moving, I got very few keepers. Here's another one, a bit easier to shoot, no composition needed:D

Just one question though, it may sound silly but did you use flsh, i ask that because maybe you pressed the flash against the glass to avoid reflection.......

Both are incredible shots, but I really like the translucency in the jellyfish.

I tried to use the flash a few times, just didn't work. Look at the resized photo below-- beside the shadow and reflection, the color and mood was not right. Fast prime sure has advantages at this situation.

Wonderful photos! I love them both.
I agree about the about the fast prime advantages. The ambient light can't be beat, IMHO.
Also in these situations, the flash cannot be used, to prevent disturbing the animals.

Awesome shots Lotto.
I heard that you can permantly blind some seahorses if you use flash when shooting underwater. Not sure how it applies in an aquarium setting.
