Hi everyone,

I have been following the Canon forums over the last few days and decided to post some pics that i took with my new Digital Rebel XT. I like the camera alot (it's my first DSLR), but still have some concerns about the "soft focus" issue that seems to be present. Any criticisms on these two photos would be welcomed.

Thanks,
John

The colors in the second shot are brilliant, too bad you cut off his tail!

What lense where you using? Exif data? I do like the second shot. The green on the mallard really pops out at you. I like the first shot with the mallard in the background as well. I don't think they are too soft. Thats just my 2 cents.

I much prefer the colouration for the first image and it seems very sharp on my monitor - its a shame you didn't get them both into the full frame. One concern is the spots of dirt to the top right of the image - is that on your sensor or on the lens?

Thanks for all the comments so far.

Dave, actually those "dirt spots" are little flys that were flying around.....if you look close enough so can see the little wings. :)

I really wish I hadn't missed the whole duck in the pic......i was zoomed in quite far with the 70-300 usm.

I am still deciding if I should keep the Rebel XT or not.......

Cheers,
John

The focus looks fine to me. And nice shots - well done!

Nice shot!!! How much more in focus are you looking for??? It looks sharp to me!!! I could see the finer feather along the neck of the duck and the eyes are glossy and clear.
