I know the 5D MK11 is not the best body to shoot a football game with however, can anyone suggest the meter and focus settings? Thanks

What they said, as for not the best body.... For speed no, but after coming from 1d series camera's and shooting 800 pics a game, its nice to be able to time your shooting more and coming home with alot less. It will really help you with timing I know it did for me..

I see the 70-200 in your signature so would stick with the advice of CPF for that lens and body combo. However, it depends on the lens you're using. If you're using a lens that has the subject tight in frame you want to use a higher point or you'll have a lot of belts in focus and not face. If they're loose (i.e. not filling the frame) then you want to use center point.

Thanks to all for the advice, It worked pretty well. I am just not getting the crisp sharp images I am looking for. I will post some shots for your critique.
