Just polling everyone to see how much luck you have selling matted and framed fine art prints at local art festivals. Obviously, if the photos sell somebody thinks they were good enough to buy. Can you post examples of work that has sold? I am not talking about huge juried art festivals. Just "come out and buy a booth and see how you do" festivals.

Wow Mike,

Nice setup. Looks very inviting and professional. Is your show at the Fairgrounds at Strawbery Hill digirebel?

Thanks Joe, just something that I threw together. I haven't been able to get out this year though. :(

Good luck with it!

A different question for those who have actually set up booths in the past:

For successful sales, what percentage is good images and what percentage is personality and talking with the booth visitors?

No, mine was "Arts Around The Lake" on the campus of Univ. of Richmond.
Turnout was great, weather was wonderful, my sales were poor though...Got plent of "love your shots", "wonderful images" etc, but that didnt translate into many sales. Only sold 5 small matted images that were (1) bought by young (20's) women, and (2) were all B&W..
My framed images were in the average price range for the size, so I wasnt overpricing...just honestly think that most people still have an aversion to purchasing photos v's paintings since the general consesus is that "anybody with a camera could make the same image". while a painting takes "skill". The lady across from me also doing her first show (she's a painter) was having a good day...even a couple who told me that they would be back later, I saw them buying a piece from her...On the good, I distributed a number of cards, so hopefully it will translate into sales later.
My images are very location specific meaning most people would/could recognise the images, and indeed my booth was full numerous times...

Thanks for the feedback Tim. Were most of the images you were selling HDR's? Just curious as a lot of folks aren't really into HDR treatment. I love it myself and your link shows some great work.

Thanks
There was a mixture, maybe half...honestly didnt seem to matter, the 5 b&w's that sold were HDR's converted to monochrome and the panorama was an HDR, brought them in though:D...but hey, thats one location and one crowd, your results may be different...
One thing I can tell you that I didnt do but should have, put descriptions of the images in with them, cant tell you how many people turned the photo over to either confirm what they already knew or to see what the image was of. I did that with the framed ones and yes people did take the time to read them..

After a night to sleep on it, I am thinking that maybe I am after the wrong crowd with my particular images...maybe I should concentrate on business rather than Fed & Suzy homeowner for now until I get more location neutral shots...
