My first post here so be gentle :) I just wanted to share some recent pics of my daughter on her first birthday. C&C is certainly welcome and I also have a question. The sky was getting blown out, I understand why, my question is - Would a ND grad filter would be the best solution to shots like these? Or would I be better off with a circular polarizer given that they dont all have a true horizon? I ended up cropping most of the photos to get rid of the sky but I'd like next time to have a nice blue sky in the BG.

Hey Skip, I was shooting with a 50d and 17-85 Canon lens. The second to the last pic was taken in AV mode at f5 at 38mm.

ISO, shutter speed, exif data. The more details, the better the critique. As it is now, the only answer I have is that a polarizer or a graduated ND filter will help with bright skies, but I think the shots seem soft to me--or your DOF at f5 was too shallow.
