I have a T1i with a Sigma 70-200 2.8 zoom and a 2X converter....when assembled the whole configuration is about 12". I'm having a really hard time finding a topload bag that will fit the camera and lenses fully assembled...None of the Lowepros are deep enough. Has anyone seen anything deep enough? It's hard to screw around with putting lenses on and off when your our at the football field, especially when the ground is all muddy....

I believe that the bag of your dreams just might be the Think Tank Urban Disguise 35. Phenomenal bag, it'll take your 70-200 + converter + attached camera with two pockets to spare on either side of the center space, and it has a great front pocket as well. And it's a really handleable shoulder bag, too.

With a long lens on the body, I set it in the bag horizontally as a rule.

What about the Think Tank Digital Holster™ 50. It should hold what you have with the hood reversed. http://www.thinktankphoto.com/product-images/xlarge/Digtial-Holster-50-2.jpg

What about the Think Tank Digital Holster™ 50. It should hold what you have with the hood reversed.
Just a warning on the DH 50 - I bought one for use with my 1D3 and 100-400 lens. Yes, it would all fit with the hood deployed, but it was a VERY tight fit to squeeze the hood into the bag past the bulging rain cover that sits in a pouch within the holster. There was no possibility of quickly drawing and returning the camera. It was a two handed battle to force the camera into and out of the bag. Personally I found the performance unacceptable for a "professional" grade bag and returned it.

Also, and while I admit there is no way round this, the holster looked absolutely huge and, quite honestly, more than a little silly (IMHO). Worn on a belt, which would be my preference, I also found it a bit uncomfotable as the great lump of a camera/lens bashed against my leg - that was just taking a few steps around the house to try it out. I far prefer to leave the camera naked, around my neck or off my shoulder, or stick it in a Slingshot or shoulder bag (I have the Think Tank Urban Disguise 60).

I do like belt and pouch systems - I have the Think Tank Skin Set - but the huge DH50 is too big to work well in such a configuration and there is the more serious issue of the fight with the thing to actually get to the camera.

So, all in all I would not recommend this bag. Others may feel differently.

As far as fit goes, you might have more luck with the Sigma lens - I don't know - but there is no avoiding the massive size of the thing with the bag expanded to take the lens and deployed hood. You could also remove the rainproof cover, which frees up some space inside, but personally I was not happy that I had to find somewhere else to stick the cover just so I could use the bag as a holster. The design simply seems flawed.

This may work for me anyway as I wouldn't use it as a holster. I'm just looking for some protection going to and from the field that allows me to travel with the lenses and the converter already attached, in a compact form factor. I already have a large camera bag for my other lenses and accessories and stuff....Thanks for the advice. I think that'll work, it appears t be the deepest bag on the market

I use a Lowepro Top Loader with shoulder strap. Have a look at the Lowepro Top Loader Pro 75 AW. I would see if your local camera shop has one in stock so you can see if your camera fits. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/611116-REG/Lowepro_LP35351_PEU_Top_Loader_Pro_75.html
