NYIP

Does anyone know anything about NYIP (New York Institue of Photography)?

I have looked at local community colleges and can't find photography classes.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Just out of curiosity, where do you live?
I don't have direct experience of NYIP, but reviews seem mixed. You may want to check to see if there is a local or regional photography club, photography association, or photographic society. Also check adult school programs and county parks and recreations systems. They may have such classes or know of resources in your area. Much luck!

I found a local photography club... I will look into that... What I am looking for is an "assignment" and then comments on how to improve... I know there is a thread here, but I feel bad posting a lot of pictures and I worry about people seeing things differently based on their monitor...

I started taking classes at NYIP. They are okay, but are outdated. They said they were updating but I ddint see much updating in my experience. I did learn some things though.

drmac: Happy to know you found a local club. I hope your experience will be fulfilling. In addition to local groups and classrooms, on-line groups, such as this one, are not such a bad place to share and receive feedback on(and learn about) photography. Having such a wide audience, of such broad range of backgrounds, interests, visions, _and_ differing technical standards, as you mention, can be discouraging, sometimes. But, I think, even those seemingly needless, senseless, unhelpful ideas and opinions can and will contribute to one's progress and growth in the art of photography. I would love to see some of your works.
