I spotted this groundhog (or woodchuck - Marmota monax) in the open with no hole to run into and hide.

great pic tupe, i have had the pleasure of seeing one of these in the wild yet.Thanks, Jeff. We have them on our school campus, but they are very skittish. Most of them have a hole nearby to hide in. I wonder if this one is young, or maybe lost.

Nice one, that sure is rare that they venture to far from one of there holes, he must have been very hungry. :lol: :lol:

good shot Tupe Ive got one in my backyard I also have pics of one when I was out birding and he's about 10 feet up in a tree with your permission I would post it here

We don't see as many as possums and skunks, but these are pretty common here. good shot Tupe Ive got one in my backyard I also have pics of one when I was out birding and he's about 10 feet up in a tree with your permission I would post it here Sure - I'd like to see it. (Don't ever recall seeing one off the ground!)

Ok well here he is about 10 feet up in a sapling I suspect he was eating the new buds , he was kind of funny cause he new he was caught up a tree and he had no idea what the hell to do so he barley moved not even to breathe it seemed trying to be as inconspicuous as possible

Here's one I saw today in the median of a busy four lane highway. No doubt about it, this one saw his shadow!
