I'm rather new to the guitar.. last night one of my strings decided to go kaboom.. it hurt.. whipped up and smacked me in the face =(
Anyways after figuring out how the hell do to this and 25 removed screws later.. DONT ASK.. I got the strings changed for the first time ever and its tuned fine again.. although its not pretty anymore :( Best I could get it =\

Lol, it takes a few tries before you figure out how much slack is required to get them wind nicely. :)

congratulations. you must have been thrilled to get it going again .
looks ok .
it's a very good close up shot of the string
must have really hurt when it flew in your face

beautiful instrument to play. each has their own special sound.
'sounds' like you love it enough to take off all those screws yourself and hope for the best
and it was okhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif

I hope you have a speed winder.

After you've done it a few times, you get much faster (and neater).

Good job.

Well, that's a start.

A speed winder is just a crank that fits over your tuning pegs and allows you to wind up new strings much faster than just using the old thumb and forefinger method. Probably costs a couple bucks (I haven't bought one in many years---they last forever).

quick tip on re-stringing. after slidint the string up thru the little hole in the butt. or nut, run the string up to the tining peg and wind it around a few times first, do it nice and slowly and neat then stick the end of the string through the hole in the peg, bend it at a right angle and turn the machine head till it tightens to where you can let go of the string... remember to keep tension on the excess sting while doing this to keep things neat and clean looking!
