My last post was maternity pictures of my aunt... and my cousin has arrived!

I took these last night, he was born last Thursday. It was SO difficult. He had slept all day, so by the time I got there he was awake and very crabby! He didn't want to do anything but be held and have his nuk :( if he didn't have that, he was super squirmy and crabby! I think I will be going back another day for more better ones!

I did get a couple that I think turned out alright...

C/C welcome and appreciated! This was my first newborn session, so I'm still very much learning here! Thanks!

The first shot is adorable but very inderexposed have you tried to bring it back?

they would be nice images if they weren't so dark like the person above mentioned. did you shoot raw? i hope there is some way to salvage them because other than that, they seem to be very nice!

1st image needs some editing, bring some light in etc... but its a beautiful shot.
2nd image I like the comp but again needs some light adjusting and I would add slight saturation to the towels while at the same time clearing up babies skin coloring.

and yes babies for most part are always the most difficult to work with, but it does help if you have your camera on a tripod and if the little critters parents give you control.

keep shooting!

They are all underexposed. I think you idea on the first one is great. Take them into LR or ACR and fix the exposured and possible WB issues and you should be fine.

of course, as stated, they are all very underexposed. What were you using for lighting? I would suggest setting up by a large window next time. Other than that, I think your posing and props were pretty good! Be careful not to have your blankets and props cut into the baby too much, especially on black (like the towels being cut off with the black they are on) it kind of gives you that "cut and pasted" look. Keep practicing and posting for critique, really listen and take in what we say, and you'll get there before you know it!

Thank you for the feedback! I do take it to heart, and now am looking forward to going back to see if I can do better!!

Swimchic, for lighting we were sitting right in front of a sliding glass door in their kitchen - my back was literally touching the door :-p It was about 6:30 at night (we got there way late due to a crazy day of stitches and such!!), so way later and darker than I wanted it to be! :(

I did shoot in RAW. Here is the image SOOC, with exposure turned way up... (I know there's lots of wrinkles in the background I need to take care of now :))

I wonder also if it seemed darker cause I had applied some sepia coloring? Which made everything more brown and less light... for instance the blanket was not as white as it actually was. I did that cause it helped his skin tone, and I liked it with all the browns of the picture...

This is very nice photo. I tried to brighten, NR, and WB.
Sorry, I did not ask for permission. If you don't want, I will remove it.

I was looking through newborn pictures for idea and came across this. I love your props and poses. Since you had image editing on I thought Id give #1 a try.
