Recently upgraded my computer, i7, 9gb ram with Vista Home Premium. Put all the software back on and am trying to update Canon DPP etc. to the latest versions.
Files download correctly, but when I "run" I get an error that says "Failed to Expand File".
Switched over to the XP machine and downloaded it and no issues. Put that copy on a jump drive and it still won't open on the Vista machine. Has anyone else had this issue? Any ideas on a fix?
p.s. I have a free copy of Microsoft 7 coming when it's released from ASUS.

It's a known issue with Vista. It's usually a 'rights' problem where the installer is trying to write to a directory that you do not have adequate permissions to. Hold the shift key as you left click the app and then "Run as" or you can turn off UAC. If this doesn't fix it then it may be corrupted rights in/on the Documents folder.

Thanks MaxxuM, I turned UAC off and that didn't work. Tried downloading it again and that also failed.

If it's a two step setup (usually is), you can actually copy the setup files from XP to vista. Sounds like the extractor is the thing giving you the problems, not the installer, and that can happen due to a lack of older runtimes on your machine (if it's a fresh install, very likely, some things failed for me until C++ redist 2005 was installed by some random program I use).

It's been a while since I've dealt with DPP, but it's trying to write somewhere and isn't being allowed. Do you have antivirus protection or file protection (like Comodo)? If so, try turning it off.

Good idea. I'm uninstalling and going at it that route.
