As with any PureSine, it's $2000....seriously. The tuned circuitry required for 60Hz operation...is massive.

Worst website EVAR!
That's out of my price realm, Vagabond is going to have to suffice. :-(

Nice for people who use compacts on location(i dont) and willing to shell out about 3k.
For that money ill take a dedicated battery system any day of the week.

The solar panel made me laugh. It takes ~8 hours to charge in full sunlight. You're telling me that in the next 8 hours you can NOT get to A/C power?

You can use it while it is charging so that would really help. Also being out camping in the wild perhaps it would nice?

Monumental waste of money. I'd rather spend the dough on 3-4 Vagabond battery packs and have those ready to go than spend 3k on some silly gimmicky pack.
the solar power feature is nice and all, and it's... a well intentioned idea, but it fails horribly when it comes to meeting the power demands that some photographers will need.

They look nice but crazy rediculous in price. You can build your own Vagabonds with twice the output of a Vagabond for around $200. (Vagabond bag from Alien bee $19, 300 watt pure sine wave inverter from DonRowe.com $140 and a sealed lead acid 20AH scooter battery off ebay for around $40). I also built two portable power units using sealed lead acid deep cycle 178 AH marine batteries from Cabelas and 600 watt pure sine wave inverters from DonRowe for around $400 each. I can run my 3000 Watt Calumet Travellers as well as my 2400 Watt Bowens Quads with no problem. You can buy a Honda Eu2000iA 2000 watt generator for around $1000. A while back I bought a new closeout Bowens 1500 Explorer power pack with one head and 3 new batteries for around $1800 which is hundreds less than they want for just one portable battery pack. I would have to pass on that one.

Yes but major studios buy the best and buy exactly what they need. They're not on limited budgets and they're not interested in saving pennies or getting what will do the job. They get professional gear and it gets used constantly and relentlessly with high power equipment.
For the amateur, semi-pro and most profesisonals, I can't see it being worth the money. You could get several Vagabond II's or Tronix Explorer XT's and if they fail you could still replace them several times over before you've equalled the amount you'd spend on one of those high end power supplies.
I can't see it being worth it at all unless you just have deep pockets and lots of cash to senselessly pi$$ away.

Robert took all the words out of my mouth. This is exactly what I was planning to say. This product is aimed a specific need, and to be honest, the average professional (and amateur) won't need this kind of product. I could see it being used in a big fashion production or in a movie production type thing, but for us? Nah.
Have 3-4 Vagabonds for the price of that one pack. I'd rather have the Vagabonds ready to go.
