I was wondering how to de-emphasize a strong jaw on a female model?
I've been trying to think of poses that would minimize it and I'm not convinced.
My current thoughts are shooting from slightly above to emphasize the chin and potentially lengthen it to de-emphasize the jaw. Perhaps with the head slightly rotated and tilted so the angle of the jaw is hidden against the rest of the head.
I would really appreciate any and all thoughts on this.
Thanks in advance!

Good plan, so far. Also consider 7/8, 3/4 turn of the head and short lighting.

Consult a makeup expert. Makeup can be used to emphasize or de-emphasize features.

@breathless I didn't think about short lighting at all. Great suggestion, thanks so much!
@mathogre always a good idea, but it's a bit of a quickie photojournalistic assignment so I won't have access to a mua.

Why de-emphasize it?

because previous shots of the client were shot in a way that makes her look very different than she does in real life. Thusly, I'm trying to shoot her in a way that represents the way she carries herself and appears in real life.

shoot from above her eye level. Slightly downward at her - should work like a charm

So think as much about the features you want to emphasize as those you want to minimize. Identify the features that do represent they way she carries herself and appears in real life (that is, the features you most notice in real life) and make sure those are emphasized.

oh yeah it can also help to have her tilt her chin down too

Thanks!
