Which remote would you prefer? RC-1 or RC-5, and would either work on my 50D?

Hello,

I've been looking around and I'm already getting a remote switch but I would like a wireless remote as well. I'm hearing mixed reviews and I would like to know whether I should get the RC-1 and RC-5. Also, I have been looking everywhere of how the wireless works. Is there something that plugs into the camera that the wireless remote reads?

Neither will work with the 50D. The 50D cannot receive an IR signal. You'll need to go wired or wireless RF. I guess it was a big deal because Canon put an IR receiver on the 7D and 5DII. I purchased a Phottix Cleon C8 RF Remote Control on eBay and it has worked very well for me.

so how is the wireless remote working out??? I bought a cheap one on ebay for $18 and it stinks sometimes it takes sometimes it dont....I want a good one but dont want to pay over $75 bucks for it....I guess canon does not make a official one for the 50D

it was a cheap one...JR something....I recently bought the Phottix cleon and it works fine.. I just wish canon would of made one for the 50D the one I had on the digital rebel xt from canon i think the rc-1 was awesome...
