I was outside my house trying out my new 100 f2.8 Macro when my dad showed up from work and agreed to pose for me. I just need to crop the bottom a bit. I'm really happy with this lens so far. I wasn't expecting this lens to be so good for portraits. Tell me what you think.

That's a nice photo :) Maybe try it in sepia too. The free YervantEffects phptoshop action does a great sepia with one click - PM me your email if you can't find it on google.

Looks like a good portrait lens to me.
Good photo too. You captured a sense of his character. He has the kind of face that says, I'm the easiest going guy in the world until you mess up a second time; then it's all business.
Come to think of it, you should have saved the photo for Fathers Day a few weeks away. It would have allowed everyone to feel nostaglic about their dear old Dads:)

It's what the photo revealed so all credit goes to you. You captured something about your Dad beyond his physical appearance.
Trite but true: A picture is worth a thousand words
Cheers
