can anyone give their input to what the optimal aperature for sharpness on the tamron 28-75. I just got mine and I am going to shoot some important events tomorrow and don't have much time to play around with it. Also what are good settings for maximum dof and still keep good sharpness? I know there is alot of variables but I am looking for any help or comments! Thanks ahead of time for all replies.

I love this lens and like to use it at around 35-55mm, aperture 5-8 for maximum sharpness. Good luck!

No matter what settings I use, i'm very happy with this lens. I mostly shoot wide open or sometimes at F4. My website has loads of pics with this lens, look at the Kylie shots in the featured section, most are F2.8 or F4.

Tim or Maureen can you give some input as to which lense you prefer, the
50mm1.4 or the Tamron 28-75. Since you both have both.

If I could only have one of them i'd get the Tamron, because I find zooms more useful than primes.
