Hey Guys,
I was just messing around in Photoshop with this flower. Haven't really spent much time in photography recently unfortunately because of work, but I'm hoping my skills will come back! CC welcome...

Way to busy for me, the soft flower and hard diagonals are clashing and sending my eyes darting! The light streaks have potential, I think this would look better with a black background.

I love it. It is a little busy (^^^) but I really enjoy it...great job! I'd really like to hear more about how you produced some of your effects.
Fantastic!

yes i agree, it has potential if the background was almost black, perhaps with a "touch" of the diagonal lines and texture.
job13_5, I started with an ordinary picture of a flower in a garden. Then I used a texture, and using vector linedots brush (google it) made a pattern on top of the texture. Then i used magnetic lasso to separate the flower from its original background - keeping the background to give it a real feel. Then using a vector brush (http://fc08.deviantart.com/fs29/f/2008/175/c/4/Abstract_Brushes_Vol_5_by_rubina119.abr)0 I made the "energy lines" coming out of the centre of the flower. Then i used a soft white brush to make a white energy ball in the centre of the flower. I also used the lens flare filter on the centre to finish it off.
Sorry its hard to explain - tell me if u want me to explain certain things in more detail.

Is this alright - or is the bg too dark?

Thanks for the info! I'll have to look into your process more.
I still like the first picture the best...nice work!

Oh you still like the first one!? :D
Perhaps it needed to be toned down only slightly then....?
