I like them all. 1st one is nice comp IMHO. Were you going for the grain look? At first I didnt really care for the shadows on the face, but with the noise it plays well.
2nd back ground is too distracting. Would be better is the back ground was cut in better as the hair looks like a two second photoshop job (I am famous for those). A Hair light and some left side fill would have helped a bit too.
Large white area on the 3rd draws my attention there rather then to the person. Find that hard to look at. Also think the person is a bit OOF.
I am no expert, so take this with a good chuckle.
Oh, welcome to the POTN forums!

thanks for your opinions dante, very appreciated.
Yes, the first one has photoshop noise.
the second one.... I have to agree withthe background and hair. the third one, yes, that is blown, but the oof is because of selective bluring, her eyes are sharp.
I think I like this version better, altough I'm not sure about that gray bit of background on the left.

Welcome to the forum. I'm pretty new here myself. I do have to say that this place is pretty awesome with some great people on it. I hope your not offended, but I wanted to try something with that 3rd photo. What do you think?

I like the first one, the other two are the notorious mug shot photos, try to stay away from them if you can. Just have them turn their heads to the side some. Keep up the good work and Welcome to the forum.

Lynn, no problem at all. I like the background and shoulder colours, but I wouldn't put them on the face.
Keiffer, I see your point and I'll surely take that into consideration in my next portraits.
By the way, the first one is a self-portrait.

I just wanted to try out this filter and see what it would look like tweaking it a bunch on that image. I don't think I would use it that way either.
