So I helped a friend out and shot a fashion show for her 2 weeks ago, and after the shoot did some more modely shots of all the models . Any ways I got a call from one of the models who really likes my work, and wanted to pay me to shoot her portfolio. I seriously shot all of the shots with my nifty fifty which I love but I feel like if Im getting paid, and want to look more professional I might need to step my game up.

So any suggestions on any purchases I should make....
new portrait lens? I was thinking like some f/2.8 zoom, sigma 18-50, tam 28-75, sig 24-60, not sure just want something to make her look good!

anything lighting wise? backdrop... refectors....softbox?
any ideas

I guess any other advise will be highly appriciated...I will do my searching on here but have never done a portfolio and want it to be good.

Thanks so much

example from the shoot I did with here, this is very minimum PP. and obviously they wont have annoying watermark

One thing I would say up front if you're trying to emulate high fashion photography: Do not underestimate what the model brings to the shoot.

A lot of what makes up "high fashion photography" relies heavily on a good model who can put it in front of the camera. The less the model provides, the more the photographer has to provide. I'm not dissing high fashion photographers--they have to do everything right to get what the model produces--but I'm pointing out the equally significant contribution of the model. A really good photographer with a so-so model will end up with some really good catalog photography...but probably not cutting-edge high fashion.

What you will have to bring to the table is cutting-edge technique--high-impact lighting or posing and perfect craftsmanship, along with a solid mental image of what you want. You can develop the concept further during the shoot from the image you start with, but if you don't know where you're going to begin with, your likely not get get anywhere.

I started with the Nifty Fifty and soon after a few projects, I realized that I needed lighting (wireless triggers, Umbrella, softbox, Snoot and Grid). Although different photographer may have different needs, mine was to have better lightings.

you can take the pics in such a manner that the model should look very gorgeous.
