I fancy ordering the following two lenses this week to complement my existing range.

EF 50 f1.4
EF 70-200 L IS f2.8

I already have
EF S 10-22
EF 24-70 L
EF100-400 L IS
EF 28-135 IS
EF 75-300 IS
The last two I use as backup only.
20D and 350D bodies

I like landscapes as part of my fell walking, nature (ie wild life parks, zoos etc) plus general out and about. I think the 50 1.4 is a must, but debating about the 70-200, I don't want to go for the 70-200 L f4 as I really love the IS on the 100-400. I think the 70-200 range is very useful, and have been out and about when I could have really used this. Would appricate comments from users who have both 70-200 and 100-400 as to what they think.

Yes. Definitely. The 70-200L is a gem, the most versitile and best quality zoom everyone is in love with. It'll pair up perfectly with the 24-70L.

As for the 50/1.4, it's an awesome bugger. However, you might consider the 85/1.8 instead. Actually, it depends what you need the 50/1.4 for. It's quite a big faster than the 85/1.8. The reason I recommend the 85/1.8 is because you can just take that and your 24-70L and be happy for the day. You could ALSO take the 50 and the 70-200L, which makes me ponder.

I'd persomally rather have the 85 than the 50, but they're both awesome pieces of glass. Oh, another suggestion. Buy the 85/1.8 and buy the el cheapo 50/1.8mkII. It's only $70 but a very decent lens for that price.

I certainly wouldn't have any qualms about recommending the 70-200 that you have chosen. I would however, debate the 50 1.4. If you are shooting primarily landscapes and walking around type of shots you already have this focal length covered in what you already have. If do alot of lower light shots then this may have some value. I have the 50mm 1.4 and don't use it very much at all as I use my 24-70 to cover this focal length.

My version of the 70-200 f2.8 L IS is deadly sharp. In reality I don't use it as much as the 100-400 though. This all depends on what you are shooting. In my case it is wildlife so the longer focal length of the 100-400 is a bonus.
