35mm 1.4 L or 24-70mm 2.8 L ?
Which of these two lences is better for general porpose use? And which is good for products shotting?I'd go for the 24-70. Much more versatile because it's a zoom (and a very good quality one at that!). For product shots, you'll want to stop down to at least f8 or more anyway, so there's no point getting a fast lens like the 35mm f1.4 since you won't be using it wide open.

The 35mm f/1.4 is better for general purpose use, if your general purposes place a premium on lens speed. It's also probably less prone to flare than is the zoom, and may yield slightly lower distortion figures.
The zoom is the better for general purpose use if your general purposes place a premium on a range of focal lengths, and the loss of 2 stops of maximum aperture isn't a problem.
My needs, wants, concerns, etc., may be very different from yours. Only you can decide which is the better lens for you.
And which is good for products shotting?
Tell us what your product shooting techniques, style, needs, etc., are, and we'll give you an answer.
Also, which camera are you using? One with a 1x crop factor, a 1.3x crop factor, or a 1.6x crop factor?
Ultimately, some questions should not be phrased as "Which is the better choice?" but rather, "Which is the better choice for me?" And chances are that you know your particular likes and dislikes better than we do.

Simply general purpose use? Definately the 24-70L!!! f/1.4 for general use? Don't need it! Zooms are way more fun too. I find primes frustrating.....
