Well I ordered mine, and was notified by mods months ago, that I had a photo selected for the book. So I was pretty stoked as this was the first year I submitted photos and had one selected by the wonderful POTN members.

Now here is the warning, this book will cause automobile accidents....

My daughter was flipping through the book while I was taking her home last night, and she was flipping through the landscape section, and I saw another one of my shots there, and it took me totally unawares. Between continually glancing over to see the great shots by everybody as she went through the book, then to be shocked at seeing another shot of mine in the book, we just about went off the road.

Don't look at this book while driving or any other life threatening event!

I got two PMs for two of my photos included, but not for the third. Got my book today. Smaller than I expected (not having either of the first two), but a beautiful volume. Very well done, book committee, and just wonderful photography from everyone. Looked through every page tonight, and it really is a wonderful collection of talent we have here on POTN. I'm honored to have been included in this volume.

Just got mine. A very impressive and good looking volume! The full version volume I got is perfect, too, with that great shot of Pekka's conductor on the cover, because my boys (with three separate images of them chosen for the volume) are involved in the local symphony. This book is for my boys...

Ha, I just realized my version is the family version with the full version paper cover. Not really a problem, but I had ordered the full. Just be sure to double-check, as it looks like Blurb could be mixing up the paper covers for the version of book you receive, it could go either way if they are mixing it up. Your kids may be going "hey Mom/Dad, what's this?".... ;)

There is an annual ritual we all go through, just keep an eye at the top of the forums for the announcement on how to make your submissions and the rules, etc. I am not sure when the next cycle starts.

Got mine on Wednesday after a fair wait. Worth it though.
Good on blurb for wrapping the book in plastic, boo on the couriers for leaving a cardboard package in the mailbox with the lid open because the package won't fit properly, it poured with rain later in the day and cardboard was saturated.

In short, there is a period of submissions in which all members have the chance to submit 1 photo per category. These are then sorted through by the book team and then put up for a public vote. The top photos then get into the book and the best photo in each category is given a full page to itself. It is a lot of work to produce the book from first submissions through to final proofing but the final product is well worth the time and effort put in by all. I'm sure (I hope) book 4 will be announced during this year so watch out for that.

April, you have to submit photos to the contest, so if you didn't submit, you wont have photos in there. At any rate, the above link posted by Jamie has all the photos in the most recent book. Enjoy!
