I think you got too close for the minimal focal distance of the lens you were using. I would have backed up a bit.

You did post in the critique corner. Perhaps posting in the RAW, Post Processing and Printing (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=18) forum would yield more results.

Anywho, this is the way I'd go.

I like the B&W edit, probably as good a save as you'll get for the shot. It's a shame the petals aren't in as sharp focus as the fibres in the jacket, just in front of the flower.
