Did these yesterday. My dog Jack :) I`ve got plenty of high key style shots but I like these better.

Perhaps a ittle too dark, but very good!
(Just my spur-of-the-moment thoughts).

Great shots, I have a similar coloured miniature Jack Russell too, awesome dogs!

Like #3 the best as it's the only one that I can see all the detail of the dog as they're quite dark. Saying that my screen is rubbish so would be clearer on another one I'm sure.

Beautiful portraits! Are you using paper or fabric backdrops? Are you using 1 light or
speedlight? What is the light reflected off? Very interested in this type of photography!

I use paper backdrops. This one was actually a chocolate brown one but by controlling the spill and keeping the subject as far from the backdrop as possible I made sure it was black.
The dog was sat on black card.
I use elinchrom lights in the studio. Only one for this shots (except for the snooted red background light in one of the shots) with a small softbox about 18 inches to the side of the dog.
