i read somewhere (i think on canon's site) the number of shutter cycles that is expected for a camera. i can't find it now, but does anyone know the official word for the Rebel XT and for the 20D ?

50,000 and 100,000 respectively. I lost the link though.

What do these numbers mean? Does it mean that you should send the camera back to Canon to get a "tune-up" (for lack of a better word), or are they simply a average life time of shutter activations before something breaks?
I'm so glad I went with the 20D over the XT. I'm finding little things every day that help me justify the purchase.
