Thanks all!

I thought she might be too old when I bought her at 6 months but she's still acts very much like a kitten!

Those are very nice. Pretty kitty. The white balance/color seems to be drifting in the series. Number 3 is a great head shot, but I would either wipe off the eye booger before the shoot or photoshop it out afterwards. All in all, nice portraits of your new boss.

Thanks. I agree, the WB was tricky. These were shot under tungsten lighting but the camera's setting for tungsten didn't do a good job, so I ended using white point or manually adjusted the temperature in the RAW converter.

I'm having to shoot at f2.8 go get enough light without going above ISO800 so the short DOF is difficult to get used to also.

The eye booger - I'm not confident enough to wipe it off yet so it will have to be photoshop!

The color on the head shot looks spot on. And the eye booger is just one click of a clone stamp to fix. Get him used to getting those cleaned up, and getting his ears cleaned out, and his claws clipped...if you do those things early and often the cat will let you do them later on when he is older and stronger. Again, #3 is really nice.

One little swipe with a cotton swab and it's gone. Like PHS said, get'em used to it when they are young and they'll be okay with it as they get older.

I find that doing things like this also helps to build their trust in you and leads to them being better pets.

I tried but she she keeps twitching, even when she was sleepy. I could poke her in the eye if I keep trying. I saw the shop keeper use her fingers to do it. I'll keep trying.

Thanks all.

- Approach while calm or sleeping (not in the middle of playing) and have a Q-tip close at hand.
- Use off hand (i.e. left hand if right handed) to pet them on top of the head and around the face. Try to get them purring.
- Gently but firmly wrap thumb and forefinger around head so the web of the hand is on his forehead and other fingers are over the ears.
- While holding head in place use qtip. Hold the qtip near the head, leaving just enough cotton exposed to get the job done, this way you'll have more precise control of where the qtip goes.
- As soon as the eye booger is gone continue petting as if nothing happened.

If you use a cotton round (a cotton disc about two inches in diameter that ladies use for cleaning makeup off) you won't poke her in the eye. You just wipe it off.

I advise starting with the claw trimming first, get her used to handling her...build trust. Also by starting with the claws you are less likely to get scratched when doing the other tasks.

You may have to exert your position by holding gently but firmly the scruff of the neck, just like her mother did when she was a new born. Not rough, gentle, firm, quick with subsequent cuddling and petting.

Thanks guys, that's great advice.
