Hi all,

I'm attending the above circuit at the weekend for an Audi day, and was wondering if anybody could tell me the best places to stand for photos?

Thanks in advance

Dan,

I was there this saturday for the Formula Ford carnival...are you accredited and trackside?

That would be my first question!

Hi James,

Sady I'm not no, I will be looking for the best locations from sectator side.

In that case, I'd suggest on the exit to Quarry, after the catch fencing, you can get some good shots with a 400 or even a 300. The run up from Folly to Avon Rise has some good panning spots and with a longer lens you can get action back to the start/finish line.

Must admit, I didnt wander too much further round the track on Saturday as the weather was awful.

Those would be good for starters.

Cheers James, much appreciated.

Is it a simple walk from the paddocks up towards Quarry then?

I was there last year but never ventured further than around the startline and last corner where I saw an Audi RS4 crash into the barrier, ooops...

That's it exactly...anywhere from the paddock onwards in the direction of the circuit. Quarry is up by the electricity pylons. Glenn (Cadwell) in another thread...HERE (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?p=8776157#post8776157)...has some shots from the Formula Ford this weekend just gone, and he was up past Quarry and Westway in the afternoon session.

FWIW, my shots from the weekend are...HERE (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=762074)

My only addition to James' advice is to think about the lighting, i was at castle combe a couple of weeks ago for the miniworld action day, in the morning i shot around the bobbies and westway area and in the afternoon i shot over on farm straight to catch quarry and the esses.

Which turned out to be a bit of a schoolboy error, the cars were in shaddow most of the time, if the weather is nice and sunny, try to shoot quarry / farm straight / esses in the morning and Camp / westway / bobbies in the afternoon. obviously if the weather is cloudy and overcast the lighting is more even so the location is not so important.

If you are interested in my shots, they are HERE (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ryan-parle/sets/72157622520944492/) just to warn you, they are no where near as dynamic and interesting as James' or Cadwell's

Thanks fellas, just what I was after, much appeciated.

Well the weathers looking light rain in the morning to overcast in the afternoon so will probably be alright on the lighting aspect, but thanks for the tip anyway ;)

Will post up my images on my return :D
