How do I get my pics out of the camera and into the DPP 1.5 sotfware using a card reader? Do I need to install the EOS Viewer Utility as well? I was under the impression they performed the same function. BTW, I have a Mac and 20D.This has probably been discussed before, can someone point me in the right direction please.

Are you especially thinking of RAW images? If so you should just insert the card in the reader and wait for the drive icon to appear. Then dubl-clik on the drive to open and drag the files to a folder. Just dubl-clicking on any .CR2 image file in that folder gets DPP to open for me by default. I can't say for sure if EOS Viewer Utility opens too but I do have both installed.

If you're using OSX, there's an app in the /Applications folder called "Image Capture.app". This will import your pics and place them where you want. If you go to this app's preferences, you can choose which app you want to open when a card is attached to a USB connection. I've chosen Image Capture, but you can choose whatever app you want; perhaps DPP can be chosen and it will deal with the imported pics.
