I shot the SMU v. TCU game this weekend. It rained pretty much the whole game, so it made it difficult, but it was a lot of fun. C&C welcome.
Thanks.

The only problem with that game was the wrong team won. As you can see by my avatar, I'm not a TCU fan.....
Nice shots. The rain drops give them a cool look.

Thanks.
I feel the same way. I am an SMU alum. Hopefully you guys will beat them in a few weeks.

What kind of rain gear did you use to protect your camera/lens?

Love rain shots so naturally, I dig these. I'd dump #1. Its soft, the horizon is probably not correctable without some serious amputations (unless this is a crop and you have the original) and the high shooting position doesn't do much for impact. This guy was running right at you so it should "feel" in the image like he's about to steamroll you. Im not trying to harsh on you, just pointing out why I don't care for the first and wouldn't make it a keeper. Otherwise nicely done and glad you enjoyed yourself!

IMO they all seem a bit soft, what shutter speed or focus mode did you use?

I noticed that some of the images seemed a little soft too. I don't know if it was because I was shooting with the lens wide open or what. I have normally had pretty good results with my sigma 70-200. I was shooting in aperture-priority mode, and the shutter speeds all night were over 1/600. I think the one of the cheerleader was 1/1250. Maybe the rain had some effect?

Do you think sharpening would help? I haven't done any major processing (except to crop the pictures a little) yet.
Thanks.

Not sure if sharpening would help, To me it seem that shutter speed & ISO are to low, Hopefully someone with more experience than me will post a reply

not so sure but without exif, its impossible to say much. I don't see any real motion blur to indicate awful shutter speeds but a faster shutter can make up for some shake if its not too bad. 2 and 3 seem to be a good bit sharper than 1 and 4 so my guess is that you simply missed focus. In servo, this can happen if you have priority on speed over focus so I'd bet that's what happened. I could be wrong though.
