I wouldn't normally cross the road to see a diseasel, however "Deltics" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napier_Deltic) are something else.

This is "Royal Scots Grey" on the North Yorks. Moors Railway, and even with only one of it's 18 cylinder engines working it was awesome!

The Napier Deltic engines are quite unique and were also used in the US Navy's "Nasty" class patrol boats of the Vietnam era. It's quite something to hear two Deltics at full throttle...

The is nothing like hearing a pair of Deltics at full song. You will remember it. Nice captures Stuart...even if it is out of your comfort zone. ;)

That's for sure, I travelled behind them quite a lot when they were in regular service over here and they were a revelation.
I used to call into Holbeck shed just to listen to them starting.

Here's a short video clip I found on YouTube of the preserved Deltic in my shots careering through Retford on the east coast main line, LINK (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oILjPBuO3cs&feature=related)
