saw a Ford gt 40 replica the other day at a hillclimb, the owner was kind enough to let me take some interior shots as well...

Such a beautiful car...

Nice shots.

Was this a kit car, or one of the Ford newer models? Like the right hand drive.
I remember growing up always hearing these cars referred to as the "GT 40" until Ford announced the new model coming out. They found out some guy with nothing to do with Ford, had the copyright to "GT 40" and in exchange for Ford to use it, he wanted one of the new GT's. Ford told him to pound sand and called the new version "GT". They made up some story about the press lableing it the GT 40 and not Ford. As with the Shelby Cobra. "A/C Cobra" was a press invention, and the real name was "Cobra"which BTW Ford ownes the copyright to. Of course this all came about when Carrol Shelby went after all the kit car manufacturers for "His Design" that was built on the out of business ACE Sportscar Company in England.
Hey, just noticed the tow truck in the photo. Car troubles?

This is the new GT right. The original GT 40 was called that as it was 40 inches from bottom to top. The new one is around 3 inches taller so following the same convention, it would be a GT43 :-).

Beautiful car in person however. Sad about those stupid doors however. If you ever park in a place where you can't open them fully, you better be able to tuck your head in from the side gap.

All said, it is super to see the lone Ford GT in ALMS do very well. A once proud name and a small team helping recreate it's heritage.

Guys, as stated in the original post this is a replica of the original, not the new car. But still a beauty!

Really nice car and some outstanding photographs, just one piece of advice, when you do a dashboard shot make sure the steering wheel is upright.

Problem is that when you start with the exterior you want the wheel to turned towards you in the shot, but once you open the door the first thing to do is put the steering wheel back upright.

If the owner is around ask him to do it, never touch this kind of cars yourself.

The full side shot is the winner for me in this series, only detail is the tree growing out of the front, but that can be easily remedied in post processing ;)

You can tell it's a replica, because the GT has a rubber looking shift boot, and more aircraft style toggle switches. It also does NOT have the shelf under glass for the headlights :P

Nice shots!

+ old style gauges, no airbag, different seats - lots of details.

It's nice to see even a replica of those on the road.

Goshdarnit, the one year I'm not at the King Edward Park Hillclimb and this turns up. Nice shots of a great looking vehicle! Did you get any interesting ones of the race?

I had a driver approach me who I sold some photos to over the past few years asking if I knew anyone who had shots of his car... I'll PM you my email address if you're interested in having him contact you.

i believe this is a DRB replica, apparently took the owner 5 years or so to complete...
and this is the ford GT 40 replica (the old one)

i have some competition images over at my website here (http://www.dmakphotography.com/Cars/Shannons-Mattara-Hillclimb)

Ahh, I believe he wanted something insane, like $40M.

really nice pics of a great car. Many replicas are let down by interior quality, but this one is very well done.

Nice shots, was the Tilt-tray there because it had broken down?:D

Where were these taken, somewhere near Newcastle?

Nice shots of a nice car that's for sure. Replica or not. Hard to tell unless you know the little details, or like when I got to the interior pics and noticed right hand drive and thought to myself "I think these were only produced in North America".

None the less amazing (both pictures and car)

The tow truck was there for the crashes. (there was a hill climb going on as well)
Should of heard the car when he started it up :o

These were taken at King Edward park in Newcastle.
