Hi all,

I'm looking for a software to rename a batch of photos (if possible free :))
Usually I rename the files this way 001__15_08_2009_place of the picture_subject.jpg

I had foudn "bulk rename utility", which is a small utility tool quite easy to use and that allows you to set up everything you want to rename the files and use exif data too.
Problem is: it doesn't read the exif data of mu photos (from a Canon 450D) where Windows can...

So I'm trying to find something else instead
Any Idea..?

Thanks!

Cyril

P.S: a quick idea of what bulk rename features

Hey, so I've found what I was looking for.
It's XnView. It enables to rename a batch of files or photos using data such as exif or else. (also possible to do some minor photo work on it too, crop...)
There's also AntRenamer, but haven't tried it yet.

Hope this helps!

Hey, glad you found something - that one has conversion, as well!

I used to use DIM, although moved onto Breeze's Downloader Pro. DIM is free, but Downloader Pro is only $30, and I found it worth it for the amount that I used it.

With Downloader Pro, You can specify exactly where folders go based on the month/date/time the shots were taken, what camera took the shots, and even a special job code that you append to the filename in an import operation.

They're both very good at what they do, but I found DLPro better for multiple camera setups, and for the amount of wildcard options in the path string that you choose.
