This morning I opened my camera bag and took out my XT, figured I would upload the images I took yesterday. Realized I forgot to turn the camera off. Half pressed to wake it up, Nothing,OK batteries probably low or drained. Take out what I thought was a fully charged Bat and pull of the BGe3 and pop it in, Nothing. Started to get a little nervous, after starting one battery charging I go around the house trying to find enough AAs to use in the grip, slip in the grip and turn it on, NOTHING, now I'm starting to freak out. Camera is only a couple months old im thinking. (as is everyones XT) Finally I pulled the CF Card and reseated it closed the cover and turn it on. It came on, aneurism over. Anybody have similar issue or some sort of expanation? I don't think I can handle that kind of stress on a regular basis.:)

The XT powers off when the card door is opened. Could be that the door was not properly closed or some dirt got in there on the contact.

Is there a battery door switch also. I know you said that you have the grip on. Try taking the grip off, replace it with the Battery door and insert freshly charged battery. If this works then the problem would be the grip or the interfacing of the grip to the camera. 0.02
