I posted this in the general chat thread, and feel it's better here:
I'm heading to Egypt, Israel, Greece, Turkey, Italy and Cyprus for quite a while. I'm bringing along these lenses... what do you guys think?
Canon 16-35mm L f/2.8
Canon 24-105mm L f/4
Canon 50mm f/1.4
Each has a UV on for protection. I have a 77mm ND4 (for the 24-105mm)
Also a Circular for both the 16-35 and 24-105mm.
I'm using a 5d Mark II - I'm bringing along 64 gig of memory cards in a pelican case + some small 2 gigers. I like to shoot in RAW+JPEG, max. I am wondering if +JPEG is worth it..?
I'm also bringing my Gitzo Traveller.
What do you guys think for the Egypt part? I am beginning to think the 24-105mm is going to do just fine, and is the 16-35mm even worth bringing. The 50mm I plan on using in mosques and churches in other locations we are visiting, plus some of the tombs where photography is allowed in Egypt. I do NOT want to worry about changing lenses here, and I think the 24-105mm will work all around.
For the other locations, I can see a lot of use out of the 24-105mm - it's a great overall lens.
What do you guys think? When I did Galapagos/Machu Picchu I ended up using EVERYTHING from my set of lenses except the 100mm Macro (below in my sig) but each day was different!!!
