There are many variations on that box with the original being the Lastolite EZYbox. There are tons of ebay knockoffs and one from Cheetah.

They work well but obviously the size can be a limitation in terms of the size of the subject area and desired quality of light.

For portability, size and weight they're excellent.

Looks a lot like a Alzo softbox / Lastolite Ezybox. Nice portable softbox.

You probably wanna move the head of the flash more into the softbox to avoid light loss. Joe McNally uses the lastolite versions and gets good results. It's more about how you can apply it given it's size. Good luck!

Thanks all, i forgot to mention the size is 13' x 13' and includes the mount. I gotta see how much they go for, this guy local wants $60CAD..... i have no idea how to even price these.

13" square is quite usable. It all depends on how you use it.

The 16x16" on eBay for going for $40 or so a while back. I have one. Works for single person shots. The eBay knock off that I have only has single diffusion panel. I think losolite version comes with two.

I would majorily use it to shoot during day time for some side fill light in the woods or around the beaches (next summer). Occationally I like to shoot before sun set to get.

Subject most of the time would probably be waist up. but of course some shots will be body length.

do you think these 13' would be big enough?

After your suggestions I think the Alzo 15' x 15' is around $80usd... so $60CAD for used isn't super good deal.

I will check if this has one diffusion panel or not.. i assume its only 1 because its generic brand.

If you can stand listening to Mark "Actually" Cleghorn, you'll find plenty of video tutorials on the Lastolite site covering use of the EZYbox Hotshoe which is Lastolite's original version of the knockoff you've purchased.

Here's a sample (actually):

"Actually"......LOL. He does go a little overboard with that, doesn't he?

Not to go off on a tangent, but some time back, Robert (aka TMR) "actually" started a thread on this very subject:
