Is there anything on this site that allows us to publicize the serial numbers of stolen gear? If not, is there one around that anyone knows of?

Not sure but you might try giving Canon a call and see if you can register the equipment as stolen. Might help on the off chance someone sends it in for service. other than that the only thing I know of is registering it with the local police.

Pete, Would it not be a good idea to make that post a 'sticky'? Maybe that's why there isn't much reported as nobody knows it exists? :-)

Like gjl said,def make sure it's registered with the manufacturer, that will take care of warranty and proof of original registrant. As far as the police station, that should cover someone trying to sell to a pawn shop or something. Check Ebay if you have specific evidence.
