Portable studio supplies?

I have been told again and again that BH photography is the best site to order your photography supplies. I am in the process of setting up a photography business. I need to purchase lighting, backdrops, flashes, and anything else I am not familiar with. So if you have the time a quick reply to this thread would be great. I want to know what I need for a portable studio and if BH Photography is the place to purchase these things!!

I can't give you a complete rundown on what a studio requires, but I can recommend Calumet Photo http://www.calumetphoto.com as one of the best professional photo suppliers. I have been dealing with them for more than 30 years. If they don't have it you don't need it.

I bought my gear from a few different places. http://www.alienbees.com for lighting and http://www.amvona.com for backdrop stand and muslin.
I wouldn't say B&H is the best place but it certainly is one of the most reputable places. You really need to figure out what you need for the type of studio work you are doing then go from there. Come back with that information and the board will light up with responses of examples for lighting setups.

If you look at jacchess' post on "continuous or strobes", you will get an indepth explanation of the location shoot I am doing. I will be in Dance Studio 20 x 40. Mirrored walls on one side , white on other. I will have 25 kids, group shots and individual portraits. I need a backdrop, lighting, possibly a lense, everything but the camera!!
