I'm sorry, but I just got to post this... What is wrong with this country... seriously...

Apparently, there are others that believe that NASA is testing space weapons...

Holy crap, where are my Star Trek and Star Wars movies, I got to go watch them like a documentary...

Really Fox "News", really...

I'm assuming you are saying that this is an interesting event, but the people who think this is a "moon missile" or whatever are crazy/stupid, right?

If so than ya, deff agree with you.

I'd be impressed if a warhead was involved. This is purely a high-energy impact. I'll set the DVR when we start nuking it. ;)

Here's a really dumb quote about the whole affair:

"The excuse given is that this is an effort to find water deep under lunar surface. But it also serves as a live-fire test exercise for US war strategists with an interest in the precision of orbiting satellite weapons... in other words, the southern hemisphere of the Moon will be turned into a firing range, making this mission one giant leap for the global reach of space warfare."

These type of stories constantly remind us that human fear will always outweigh human intelligence.

now this is very well said....

and yes, I'm talking about how retarded the whole bombing the moon issue is and I think the bombing took place already, I saw that the moon was missing a big chuck last night...

oh and btw,
I am now waiting for Fox "News" to report on Moon Aliens sightings, maybe from Texas or Alabama or Mississippi or Kentucky, etc.. too many to name, after NASA bombs the moon, according to Fox "News".

That's right everyone, you heard it here first.

Why don't we just test on enemy territory? They'd think it was from aliens anyways...There are so many variables differing from Earth and the Moon. Like Space Unicorns.

What if we blew up the Moon? My 90's vintage howling moon wolf T shirts would be useless! I gotta have something to match my acid wash jeans!!!

It's kind of cool, though. This could be a next step towards meteor defense. Or a one up on other countries...

President: Us Americans have one thing you don't have. Charge teh lasers, "PEW PEW PEW!"

They should do this at night and give us all a chance to photograph it.

Where in Daytona are you? I stayed at the Daytona Beach Resort & Conference Center for Spring break. Gotta love a 24hr Denny's across the street when ya come back from the bars haha

looks like the people on the west coast will be able to photograph it.. it will be at like 315 in the morning.

And who is the one who OK's this to actually happen?

it's the photographers, cause we're bored of just a regular shot of the moon.

ya, I m a big conspiracy theory guy. love em and read them all. but if you believe in Illuminati or not, I really can't see any reason to bomb another planet. There is enough space junk already floating around.

if you like to get some info on moon conspiracy theories, check out Jose Camilla. He has some pretty interesting ideas.

His whole research shifted from UFO's to moon base documentaries.

I heard that Nikon just opened a factory on the moon and NASA likes Canons.

Guys please, they are launching an old spacecraft twice the speed of a bullet at a crater, they aren't launching any nukes. I'm pretty sure we'd see a nuclear explosion from earth...LOL

Also, here's a link to an impact countdown clock. http://www.bored.com/makecountdowns/show.php?id=182293

Anybody going to make this a photo-op?

Well, it's happening at 7:30 Eastern Time, which means 4:30 Pacific Time (my time), which means I'm setting my alarm for 3:00 AM and am going to try to drag my butt out somewhere away from the city lights. I guess I'll take it as an opportunity to miss a little morning work and catch dawn at a wildlife preserve not too far away...but still, 3:00 AM?

Yup, but taking pictures of my TV won't be nearly as rewarding as driving 45 minutes out of town way before dawn to park and wait in the dark and hope that I can manage to "capture the moment":)!

'Course with a big screen high def TV, hmm, maybe I would get better shots that way:)!
