hello. i friend has just began taking pictures with a dslr about 4 months ago. anyway hes looking for some c&c of his pictures posted here. :D

First one is just plain out of focus, sorry... flopping fish is hard to capture.

Pelicans are sharp, good colors and contrast, but in this case, the rule of thirds should have applied. There's not enough negative space 'in front' of the subject... needs to be looking into the frame instead of out of it. The rule of thirds is a guideline of course, not a rule, but in these, should have been followed.

Last one of the fish looks odd, like too overly processed at the mouth. It looks kinda creepy.

To your friend - keep practicing and work on framing/composition a little more. (And have him sign up to get his own account, so he can ask his own questions and learn from seeing other images)

these are my pictures, a just finish completing my membership. so I can keep learning and posting on this web site, i was encourage by my friend to do so.

last picture has no p&p and the emerald color on the fish is its color

Both fish shots have flaws which have been stated by others. I'm guessing that you could sit in that spot all day long and take 100s of pictures and get maybe one keeper.

In the first pelican shot, the bird is turned away from you. The second is the better shot. However, it's tonally flat. Look at the levels histogram. If you turn on image editing, people can post examples of improvements. I think I would also experiment with different compositions. This one is leaning toward whole body. However, you cut off its tail and legs. So it's incomplete. There's also too much if you wanted to go just for portrait. It would need cropping. Also, as suggested, give this fellow some room into which to look.
