nice shots, I bet if you slowed the shutter down a little bit more you would get full circle prop blur

I think the first would be stronger with the same vert crop, but wider on the hori to get more of the left engine/prop. The tips of the prop just make the image look funny.
When a plane is static, or nearly so, you can really slow the shutter to get crazy prop blur...especially if you are shooting a short focal length, handheld. But, unless you are using a ND filter in what seems to be bright lighting conditions, this might not be possible since you will be limited by how small your aperture can go and ISO settings. I have that problem doing mid-day car cruise panning shots under 1/80.

Good stuff! The Clearwater guys are cool. Love seeing them buzz the beaches. And yes, jet fuel/exhaust does smell great haha. How did you get that close, and where were you shooting from exactly?
I'm just up the road in Tampa and make it down there every so often. PM me if you ever want someone to go shooting with!

Big Dog ... yep, that thought occured to me.... but not 'til I got home, oh well, maybe next time.
mlav... neither pic is cropped, just downsized to 1024 pixels... my bad composition.
vr6... I had been at the end of the service road you can see in pic #2 .... something told me to move back a little (20 yards? ) as he came thundering by. :)
RadAL ... yes, I have more... some already on my Flickr, the others I'll post there ASAP
By-tor... yep, it's a great 'plane.... and apparently around since the '50's
dlr328 ... thanks, and get well soon Qadsan ... I know the feeling - I've just had my 5th surgery since November '08.... I really find the whole photography thing very therapeutic.

Very cool pics. Looks like Patrick Airforce Base, but I suspect it's not.
