Im not sure if this has been posted in here before. I looked for a little bit and didnt see it. I normally dont come in here but I just bought the G11 and wanted to share some about it.

Resized and sharpened (Probably too much...Its still the default sharpening that I used on the MkIII).

Straight JPG with auto contrast turned on. No NR except whatever the camera may default to. I dont see an option to change it anywhere.
Box pictures go 80->3200 ISO
Dog pictures are 3200 and 800 ISO

100% crops of the same pictures in the same order. These are not sharpened in post. Just 800x600px from the middle of the picture.

Impressive. Rivals anything I have seen (or personally experienced) from the panny compacts.

impressive. I'm wondering how these will compare to the s90... Especially because it's got a one stop light advantage with it's lens...

I would think theyd be pretty similar seeing as how theyre the exact same sensor

Looks like a BIG improvement over my G10...Holy Cow...
Thanks, my g-10 might be looking for a new home....How do you like that articulated LCD?

Its actually a feature I dont mind. At first, I thought I would rather have the larger screen but I actually prefer being able to tuck the screen away when Im not using it and it can definitely come in handy when Im trying to get a picture from an awkward angle.

Its one of those features I wouldnt buy a camera just because it had it, but I also wouldnt avoid it just because it had it. Make sense?

really sharp at ISO 800, that's a great improvement from G series.

Looks really, really promissing. Thanks for posting.

Nice looking dog, BTW. I love Shepards. Sorry to see he has the "lampshade" on.

Agreed these look pretty impressive to me. Thanks for posting. I love the dog pics too, I had a Shepherd when I was a teen.

yes and no. First off it's got a different lens, so even assuming it's the same sensor, they'll have different IQ and different ranges (most likely). The faster lens on the s90 means it can shoot as one less stop in terms of ISOs in low light. But the biggest question I have is the samples I've seen online don't seem to match between the two. The G11 appears to have better contrast? So I'm not sure if it's processing, the sensor, or what, but I'd love to see the dpreview tests on both.

Remember, the 1Dsiii and 5Dii also have "the same sensor" but don't. We know it was supposedly tweaked before production to not be identical anyway, but the processing is CLEARLY different between those two with the 5Dii going for ISOs and the 1DsIII ultimate low ISO quality (no banding).

OK, quick s90 test for you to compare.

ISO 800, 1600 and 3200. 100% crop, straight out of the camera. Should be a similar distance to the shots above. Shot at f/4.0, 9.64mm. Though, it shouldn't have mattered, for a center crop. I've been finding the center is sharp at all apertures. Its the corners and edges that suffer wide open, especially at the wide end.

Thanks for the comparison. Ill try to take some edge crops tonight. Ill also try the low light mode which supposedly gives you 12,800

Take that baby outside tonight and get us some High ISO street shots (400,800,1600 preferably) if you get bored ;)
