Anybody used one of these Delkin Pop-Up LCD Covers (http://www.delkin.com/delkin_products_lcd_covers.html) on a 10D or 20D? Interested in build quality and ease of use. How is it attached to the camera?

From other thread that I have on similar item most don't recommend it. Do search on Hoodman, they make a similar item.

I think the "eye piece" is removed and replaced with the Hoodman type of LCD cover.

I have the Hoodman one. It looks like it's the exact same thing. It's not made very well. In fact the two hinges broke off the first day I had it. I can still use it, but it's a PITA and not worth the effort in my opinion.

Whats the point? It seems like just another thing to get int he way and cause you headaches. If you're worried about the LCD panel, cover it with PDA film. I wouldn't waste my time or money on these gimmicks. Just my opinion. ....If you find a single pro that uses one, I'd be surprised.

Most pros that I've seen have some sort of similar cover on the LCD. Either something like this or a smaller transparent plastic cover over the screen. If it wasn't for the flimsy hinges on the Hoodman that I bought, I might be much happier with it. It doesn't get in the way at all.

...hmm? I would have to disagree. Most pros that I know don't put anything at all on their LCD panel. In fact, I'm the only one that I know who even puts PDA film on one of my bodies.

Even so, I still have to ask what the point is? To protect the LCD Panel? To shade the LCD Panel?

I would get some PDA film if you're worried about the LCD (its pretty tough though). I don't see much benefit to shading the LCD either, because its not accurate enough to use for judging exposure even in the best light.

Maybe it's a west coast thing. All I know is I do see it. A lot.

Yes. Both. Mostly to shade it, though.

Another vote for PDS film....or if you're feeling really plush look for an Exim Screen Protector for about $10...they're ultra-clear and have been excellent at repelling scratches.

If you need it shaded putting your hand over it is easier as opening a cover.
