There is a place in Kentucky (I think it's Kentucky), on the bank of the Ohio River, called Cave-in-Rock. Apparently, pirates on the river would lure rivermen into this cave with promises of dinner and gambling. When the rivermen entered the cave, they were killed, and their riverboat load captured.

It was a really interesting sight, this cave in the rocks of the Ohio. Here is a staircase leading towards the entrance. It was the first time I've actually captured the shadows and the light without blowing one or the other.

Enjoy!

You did blow it out, down by the bottom, and around 8/10ths to the top.

A little cropping will take care of that..

Too contrasty for me. I'd love to see this taken on an overcast day, or just after a spring shower....

You're totally correct...and cropping is the answer for now. But what I meant was more the body of the shot - the shadows and the sunlight mixed on the stairway. At least, the blown stuff is on the edges, you know? LOL! I'm still learning. Lots and lots of learning to do for me.

Me too. Maybe misty or actually during rain. Pity that I live in So. CA, 'cause there were tons of interesting things at Cave In Rock that I'd've loved to shoot either at sunset or with different lighting. If anyone is in the area, it's a great place to challenge yourself with shadows, light, and angles.

Thanks for looking, and I appreciate the comments. Like I said, I've got about as much learning to do as a nursery school child does.
